Grade 8 Modern Physics -- by Inquiry!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Making quantum and particle physics accessible in the junior science curriculum!
The quantum and particle physics elements of the new curriculum might seem difficult to approach by inquiry, but with these readily prepared hands-on materials the concepts and methods of particle physics can be made accessible to inquiry at this level. Using free resources from the Perimeter Institute (Canada's Centre for Theoretical Physics) and readily available materials (we even can provide free kits for participants!) you can guide your students in understanding, and recreating, how we have arrived at our current model of quarks and leptons, and to see the quantization of light hands-on. Tap into the deep interest students have in modern physics to engage them in inquire and knowledge construction and get glimpses into the deepest aspects of our universe!
